How appearance stacks

Defaults — the look Charc ships with.

Theme — overrides the defaults. One pick in General restyles everything at once.

Your settings — everything on this tab overrides the theme, and stays put when you switch themes.
So a theme only changes the pieces you haven’t set yourself. That is what the Theme option on each control means: pick it to hand that piece back to the theme. Reset to defaults at the bottom hands back all of them at once.
